The Deepwater Spotted Anthias

The Deepwater Spotted Anthias

The Deepwater Anthias, Odontanthias unimaculatus is the closely related cousin of the Hawaiian Deepwater yellow anthias, fuscipinnis, more well known. This beautiful specimen was collected far from the home of it's cousin, yet resembles some of the striking features such as the Spiked High fin and body shape we've come to recognize in the fuscipinnis and borbonious species. Acclimated well, these deepwater species can thrive as beautiful parts of our reefs. Shy at first, in the shop even the deepest dwelling fish warm up to us and swim by to be fed.
