RR Tropic Thunder Montipora

This Montipora palawanensis (often called a “monti” by reef hobbyists) is a hardy SPS coral known for its vivid coloration and encrusting/ plating growth form. As it matures, it forms a dense layer over rockwork as well as encrusted shelves, adding rich color and natural texture to reef structures.

Montiporas are well-suited for mixed and SPS-dominant aquariums and perform best under stable reef conditions.

Care: Moderate to high light, moderate flow, and stable alkalinity and calcium.
Growth: Moderate to fast under consistent parameters.
Placement: Mid to upper rockwork where it can spread naturally.
