Blue Hippo Tang (Paracanthurus hepatus) – Iconic Blue Hippo Surgeonfish

The Blue Hippo Tang, also known as the Pacific Blue Tang or Hippo Tang, is one of the most recognizable and beloved reef fishes. With its deep royal blue body and vivid black “hippo” stripe, this tang adds color and movement to any reef tank. Every Blue Hippo Tang at TSM Aquatics completes a 30-day quarantine, ensuring health, appetite, and readiness for your aquarium.

Care Level: Moderate,  best for intermediate reef keepers
Diet: Herbivore , thrives on seaweed sheets, nori, algae flakes, and pellets
Temperament: Peaceful, may show mild aggression toward similar species
Tank Size: 120 gallons or larger

Compatibility: Reef-safe and peaceful with corals and most invertebrates
