DESCRIPTION:

The Blue Mandarin Dragonet (Synchiropus splendidus) is one of the most sought-after saltwater aquarium fish due to its dazzling, psychedelic coloration and peaceful temperament. This wild-caught specimen features intricate blue and orange patterns that make it a true centerpiece in any marine display.

Native to the warm lagoons and reefs of the Pacific Ocean, Blue Mandarins are reef-safe and compatible with a variety of non-aggressive tank mates. However, they are specialized feeders that require a mature aquarium with a thriving copepod population or regular feedings of live foods such as enriched brine shrimp and live copepods.

All mandarins we ship are accepting prepared frozen food but will thrive with established pod populations. We are essentially target feeding this species through QT.

Care Recommendations:

  • Tank Size: 30+ gallons for a single specimen, larger for multiple dragonets

  • Natural Diet: Live copepods.

  • TSM DIET: Hikari brand mysis, sprirulina brine, blood worms, fish eggs, baby brine, cyclopods and rotifers

  • Temperament: Peaceful, best kept with other non-aggressive species

  • Reef Compatibility: reef safe

  • Origin: Wild-caught
