DESCRIPTION:

The Gold Head Sleeper Goby (Valenciennea strigata) is a striking and functional marine fish known for its vibrant golden head and active sand-sifting behavior. This species is prized in reef systems for its aesthetic appeal and ability to maintain substrate cleanliness.

Each goby from TSM Aquatics has passed full quarantine and conditioning, ensuring a healthy, ready-to-thrive specimen for your display tank.

Care Essentials:

  • Tank Size: Minimum 30 gallons, ideally 50+ gallons for comfort.

  • Behavior: Peaceful and primarily bottom-dwelling. It sifts sand constantly to feed and aerate the substrate.

  • Diet: Carnivorous/omnivorous. Feed a mixture of finely chopped meaty foods like mysis, brine shrimp, and quality micro pellets.

  • Substrate Requirements: Prefers fine sand (at least two inches deep) to sift freely without damaging its delicate mouthparts.

  • Reef Compatibility: Generally reef safe with corals and invertebrates, though caution with small crustaceans.

  • Water Conditions: Maintain stable reef parameters — temperature 76–82 °F, salinity 1.024–1.026, pH 8.1–8.4.

  • Habitat: Provide plenty of live rock with hiding crevices and open sandy areas for sifting activity.

The Gold Head Sleeper Goby is both beautiful and beneficial, making it an excellent addition to reef aquariums for hobbyists seeking a functional and eye-catching species.
