The Watanabei Angelfish (Genicanthus watanabei) is a highly sought-after reef-safe angelfish known for its bold horizontal striping and graceful, elongated fins. Found in deeper reef slopes of the Pacific, this species thrives in peaceful community tanks and pairs well with other non-aggressive fish. Males display striking blue and black striping, while females feature elegant black and white bands, making them one of the most visually unique angelfish available. Fully quarantined for a minimum of 30 days, eating prepared foods, and shipped healthy for a smooth transition into your aquarium. Ideal for reef tanks 125 gallons or larger, where they can swim actively in open water without harming corals or invertebrates.
Female
Care Level: Moderate, best for experienced reef keepers
Diet: Planktivore/Omnivore will accept high-quality pellets, mysis, brine, copepods; performs best on frequent feedings
Temperament: Peaceful, tolerant of most tankmates
Tank Size: Minimum 120 gallons (larger for adult pairs)
Max Size: ~6 inches
Compatibility: Reef-safe, doesn’t nip at soft corals or sessile inverts.
